My Introduction to Breast Cancer, the Courage of A Women and My Quest to Do Something
In 2001 my life was impacted by breast cancer when my mom, Lynda was diagnosed with stage 4 Inflammatory Breast Cancer. I watched my mom holdher head high and keep her strength and courage to fight for her life, for 5 blessed years after her diagnosis; almost 4 years more than what Dr.’s predicted. She was never in remission, enduring chemo and radiation the entire time, volunteering for clinical trials and always looking at the data in the smart, logical and optimistic way she did; never complaining of the monotony of days and only occassionaly mentioning the pain. Of course, I had no idea how much pain really. I felt helpless and small, unable to ”do” anything except listen and share her grandchildren, my children. We’d go to lunch and shop on a regular basis. These were the days she glowed, taking in everything the children had to say. They were her world. In Sept. 2006 my mom lost her fight against breast cancer but never her spirit. My dad my brothers and I were with her at home when she passed. Although it was the most painful time in my life, I am so thankful she was with us, surrounded by those who loved her most. The emotional journey through her treatments left me wanting, no needing, to find a way to feel that there was something I could do. Through Saige Nicoles I have found one avenue. With each sale from our Passion for Pink merchandise, http://www.saigenicoles.com/passionforpink.html, we donate 10% of proceeds to support breast cancer research. The strides made in breast cancer research in recent years has left me hopeful that in my lifetime there will be a cure and we will no longer have to see our loved ones struggle through this horrific disease.

- Believe
In my continued pursuit to do more to help in finding a cure I have joined forces with a brilliant designer to help me in my own creative endeavor. With much thought and inspiration from my mom and the many women who I know or have met, I have created and designed a beautiful piece that I call “believe”. It is named such because I believe that without belief, without hope we have nothing. As a human race we are designed to overcome the greatest obstacles and pains; to endure and withstand and raise one another up. As I complete my design I will post more information on my blog.
- Virtual Walk for the Cure
I’ve seen and heard of this “Virtual Walk for the Cure” recently and finally took the time to check it out. It’s brilliant! For $3.00 you get to design a virtual walker in your image or the image of a friend or whomever you choose. This virtual woman then goes on a walk with all the other virtual women in support of breast cancer and a cure. The brains behind this virtual world are the individuals at Design-her Gal Stationary. It costs a mere $3.00 donation to join. At that price I’m pretty certain that most of the American population could walk. Can you just imagine if they did – what an incredible contribution it would be. Their goal is to get 1 million walkers. Won’t you join in? And while you’re at it invite a friend or two – it probably costs less than your Carmel Macciato – I know…
- Success Finally Comes
I am so incredibly excited to finally be able to announce that we have finished our design of our new “Believe” bracelet and that our first bracelets have arrived. They are stunning and so much more beautiful than the concept bracelets and graphics. We are actually shooting new photos because they are so beautiful and we want to do them justice! We have been working on the design with brilliant jewelry designer Anne Garrison for 5 months. And while her studio became inundated with orders and business was crazy – Anne continued to take the time and work with us until the bracelet was just right. And it is. The concept of the “believe” bracelet was originally designed around breast cancer; but as it grew and developed it became quite clear that it wasn’t as much about fighting breast cancer as much as it was about the strength, courage, and hope of women. And that message comes across so clearly. We hope it comes across as clearly to you too! Please let us know what it means to you. We love to hear from you.
Purchase your bracelet by visiting http://www.passionforpink.com/As with all of our Passion for Pink merchandise, 10% of our proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

BRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER: A WORTHWHILE WAY TO DONATE YOUR UNUSED BRIDAL GOWNS AND SUPPORT BREAST CANCER RESEARCH
I’m sorry I didn’t know about this Event earlier or about the organization because I think it is great! I saw Brides Against Breast Cancer on a local LA news channel this weekend and was hooked. This organization is doing so much for women and men who are currently battling breast cancer, a cause that touched my life when my mom was diagnosed and later passed away from breast cancer. Please take a moment and visit their website and find if there is anyway in which you can contribute to this cause – either by volunteering or donating – every action makes a difference. Visit their site at http://bridesagainstbreastcancer.org/ . I’ve already submitted my e-mail to find ways to volunteer and may be donating my gown soon – I have to talk to my daughter first – as it was promised to her – but she’s only 13, we have many years before she’ll be needing a gown.
